Pekka's help was priceless. Pekka was a helpfull crew member while we were still studying Hamu's character.

We would have gladly visited Öland, but our summer vacation was running out. We left in the morning, on Saturday, June 13th from Sandhamn. We tacked towards Öland's Southern tip and saw the lighthouse there just before we needed to tack away again. Sunday th 14th were at the Northern end of Öland and saw the lighthouse there when the sun came up. The wind was unpredictable and much of the trip we had to play a motor boat. And so we passed the beautiful harbors of the Northern Öland.

On the way from the Northern tip of Öland to Visby we saw a sailing ship, Cisne Branco from Brasil. Joshua Slocum, the famous sailing ship navigator, a captain and a solo sailor, hated steam ships which made sailing ships history. A magnificent and fast cargo ship makes a small pleasure cruiser think how to get away from it on time even though he would meet the ship in the middle of an open ocean. Even a big sailing ship has a different effect. It seems to invite to meet it like Sirens called for Odysseus. A sailing ship looks friendly. There is so much to do with the sails and the masts that how could it possibly have the time to run over anyone.

We arrived in Visby in the Afternoon, called the harbour captain and got a nice spot. We could immediately see two ice cream restaurants from the deck. Both of them adverticed to have more varieties than should be possible. We chose the first place to visit in Visby unanimously.
